FICKSBURG – The police have arrested, detained and charged yet another suspect for alleged dealing in drugs at Ficksburg. The arrest follows after three suspects were arrested on drug dealing charged in same the town.
It is reported that on Tuesday, 07 December 2021, at approximately 14:00, the Welkom Public Order Police Reaction Team were off duty on the day after their success of arresting three suspects for allegedly dealing in drugs in Meqheleng.
The off duty members were in town at Fontein Street in Ficksburg to buy food when, while waiting for their order, they noticed a suspicious exchange outside the shop taking place between the two people.
They members immediately went outside and approached the suspected person and searched him. Upon searching they found, 27 wrapped plastic sachets of illicit drugs (nyaope) in his possession and an undisclosed amount of cash. He was arrested and is being detained. The suspect is expected to appear before the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court today facing charge of dealing in drugs.
