An intelligence driven operation by police in Tshwane and Ekhuruleni leads to the swift apprehension of six suspects in Tembisa following an alleged house robbery

PARKTOWN - It is all boots on the ground as members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) continue to clamp down on criminals this festive season and beyond.

On Wednesday, 14 December 2022 a team comprising of members from Tshwane District Robbery Aggravating Task Team, Ekurhuleni District Tactical Response Team (TRT) and detectives from SAPS Cullinan arrested six suspects, aged between 43 and 28, in Tembisa following a house robbery incident.

According to a preliminary report a complainant reported a house robbery incident to SAPS Cullinan where after her statement was obtained. During the interviewing process the complainant confessed that she had orchestrated the house robbery and provided the police with information on the whereabouts of the suspects who had committed the house robbery.

The information was operationalised and the team proceeded to the identified address in Tembisa which is in Ekurhuleni District.

A search of the premises led to the recovery of a vehicle, four firearms, ammunition, a mountain bike, three toolboxes and several electronic appliances; six suspects were subsequently arrested which includes the complainant.

The suspects are expected to appear before a Magistrates' court soon while further investigation is underway.

Community members are urged to refrain from reporting false cases as this constitutes to a crime which is punishable by law.
