Alleged love triangle that went wrong leaves one dead

Police in Taung are investigating a case of murder following an incident wherein a 57-year-old man was stabbed to death in what seems to be a love-triangle that went wrong.

The incident happened at Mokasa 1 village in Taung at about 07:00 on Thursday, 12 August 2021. According to the information received, the victim, Onkemetse Jeremia Morwaeng was still sleeping with his girlfriend (41) who is also alleged to be the 41-year-old suspect’s girlfriend when the suspect came and proceeded to a room where the pair were sleeping. Upon finding the two, the suspect allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the victim once on the left of his upper body. The victim managed to flee to the other room where he collapsed.

After the incident, the suspect left together with the girlfriend to Mokasa 2 village. Police were informed and whilst busy processing the scene, members of the community at Mokasa 2 apprehended the suspect and took him back to the scene where he was handed over to the police. As a result, a case of murder was registered and the suspect is expected to appear before the Taung Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 August 2021.  Investigation into the matter continues.
