Alleged fraudster arrested for defrauding car dealership of approximately R300 000

A 37 year old man appeared in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court today on fraud related charges involving defrauding a car dealership approximately R300 000.

 

It is alleged that in March 2019 the accused, Mhlonipheni Ndlovu submitted fraudulent payslips and bank statements when applying for vehicle finance of R300 000 at First Car Sales Dealership in Booysens for a Toyota Corolla Quest purchase

 

The bank’s forensic investigation team revealed that the vehicle finance application was initially declined but later approved. The bank discovered that Ndlovu collected and continued paying monthly instalments as required by the bank.

 

Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Johannesburg charged Ndlovu for fraud after handing himself in accompanied by his legal representative today and subsequently appeared in court.

 

He was granted a R3000 bail and the case is postponed to 01 October this year for docket disclosure.
