HOOPSTAD – Members of Public Order Policing Reaction Team operationalized information about drug related activity in Tikwana.
On 27 November 2021, members approached a house in New Stands at Tikwana with information about the owner selling drugs. A request was made to search the premises and permission was granted.
Upon a thorough search, 37 small plastic bags of Crystal Meth, 14 full Mandrax tablets, 15 halves of Mandrax tablets, 40 quarters of Mandrax tablets and cash that amounts to R109-00 were recovered. Apparently the owner arrived while members were busy searching and the two suspects, aged 25 and 27, were arrested for dealing in drugs.
Members also followed up on information received from residents of Tikwana, about suspected drug dealing activities at a house in Rakhale Street. Upon a search, 19 small plastic bags of Crystal Meth and cash that amounts to R80-00 were seized. A 23-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs.
Members followed up information at a house in Matshilo Street, where a 25-year-old suspect was found in possession of 3 full tablets of Mandrax, one quarter of Mandrax tablet, one plastic of Crystal Meth and cash that amounting to R44-00 were seized. The suspect is facing a charge of dealing in drugs.
The four suspects will appear in Hoopstad Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 November 2021.
The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Maj Gen Lerato Molale thanked residents of Tikwana for giving information which led to the arrests and seizure of drugs. POP members were also thanked for their dedication to clean the streets of Tikwana from drugs.
