GQEBERHA – Teamwork between SAPS Gelvandale Detectives and their Vispol members led to the arrest of two suspects within 48 hours after the business robbery was reported in Gelvandale on Thursday 27 October 2022.
It is alleged that on the mentioned date at approximately 04:30 in Fitchard Street, Helenvale, the complainant was waiting for a bread delivery and left the door of the shop open. Two armed suspects entered the shop, pointing the complainant with a firearm and took an undisclosed amount of cash and a few loose cigarettes. As the suspects fled the complainant chased after them, but they fired a shot and ran towards Voisen Road. No one was injured during the robbery.
The SAPS Gelvandale detective who attended the scene requested the assistance of the Vispol members as he followed up on information which led to the arrest of the first suspect on the same day 27 October 2022 at approximately 12:00. The second suspect was apprehended on Saturday 29 October 2022 at 08:40.
Both suspects aged 18 and 37 were detained on charges of business robbery and will appear in the Gelvandale magistrate court on Monday 31 October 2022.
