In commemoration of older persons week SAPS Alldays Social Crime Prevention and Communication Officer Sergeant Tshiwalule accompanied by community policing forum (CPF) member Ms Rakgoropo and Street Committee Block 3 Chairperson Mr Mashula conducted door to door campaign on 01 October 2021 at Alldays Speakerpark Phase 2, for protection of older person’s rights.
Seven elderly people and their caregivers were visited and the following issues were addressed
- Elderly people’s rights
- Gender Based Violence
- Caregivers responsibilities
- Elderly safety tips questionnaire was exploited to determine their safety at home. They were also encouraged to speak out on any form of abuse against and to promote a healthy relationship with their neighbours.
Pamphlets with contact numbers of the Station, CPF, Street Committee members, Domestic Violence, Break the Silence Against Crime, My SapsApp and Elderly rights were distributed to their caregivers.
