Alfred Ndzo District launches safer festive season operations through sports against crime

MOUNT AYLIFF:  Members of Alfred Ndzo District, in partnership with the Department of Community Safety and the Alfred Ndzo Traffic painted the streets of Mount Ayliff blue whilst setting the tone for a safer festive season during the Launch of the District Safer Festive Season Operations – Save a life.

 

This memorable event was held in the deep rural side of Eastern Cape, in Mount Ayliff today, 18 November 2021, at the Mount Ayliff Sports Ground.

 

The colourful event kick started this morning, with a parade and was followed with various activities prior to the official launch of the festive operation.

 

The team from Provincial Corporate Communication together with members of Junior Management Core also took the platform in creating awareness campaigns in the CBD were communities were educated on issues of gender based violence and substances abuse and concluded the day’s proceedings with friendly games against different districts teams.

 

Representatives from the Internal, External Stakeholders and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) also pledge their support and commitment in joining hands in the fight against crime.

 

An opportunity was also given to the district teams by participating in the different sporting codes during the Sports against Crime Match Games which focused on decreasing crime amongst the youth.

 

Representing the acting District Commissioner, Colonel Vuyisile Nonkwe unpacked the objectives and the clear mission of the SAPS Festive Operational Plan – Save a Life and gained the confidence of the community by assuring them that the District is ready for a Safer Festive Season, “The fight against crime is a responsibility of the citizens of this country. It is not only the job of the SAPS to save lives. I want to ensure you that the Law Enforcement Agencies from within the Alfred Ndzo District will not tolerate any form of crimes, we are ready, but having said that, we need you as our community members to be our eyes and ears on the ground. Let us come as a collective and let us maintain this strong partnership in the fight against crime, he concluded.
