Additional suspect arrested in the R1.2 million trust graft

The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation (SCCI) arrested an additional (55) years old suspect who is alleged to be involved in the R1.2 million graft of the Corporate Social Investment Programme (CSI) of a reputable bank.

The suspect handed himself over this morning and was processed at Johannesburg Central police station. He will be facing charges of theft and money laundering in terms of Prevention of Organised Crime Act in furtherance of common purpose. It is reported that the accused acted in concert with ex-employee of Standard Bank who was the Head of the CSI Programme for the “Adopt A School Trust”.

Through an intensive probe, the Hawks investigators established that the incumbent unlawfully and intentionally benefitted from the Trust fund whilst working in concert with accused no1, Dr Nomsa Masuku prejudicing the fund over R 800 000.

The suspect is appearing later this morning in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Palm Ridge Magistrates court on charges of the
ft and money laundering.
