Alfred Sphiwe Dlamini (36) appeared before the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 14 September 2021, for the alleged murder of his girlfriend. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Thursday, 23 September 2021.
The accused’s court appearance stems from his apprehension on Sunday, 12 September 2021, after he handed himself over at the Hebron Police Station.
Initial investigation led the police to a shack in Itireleng Section, Hebron, where the body of a deceased female was found under the bed with a stab wound on her neck. She was identified as a 33-year-old Lebogang Mahlabahlaba Mokonyane. According to the accused, the tragic incident happened in Saturday morning, 11 September 2021.
In another unrelated incident in Mooinooi, police were called to a murder scene at Khalamtwana informal settlement on Saturday, 11 September 2021 at about 17:05. On the scene, the body of a male was found lying in the street, with multiple stab wounds. He was identified as Saphulelwa Xukiswa Krose, aged 47.
Thembiso Hokozani Khuzani (48) handed himself over to the Mooinooi police, shortly after the discovery of the body. Initial police investigations indicated that there was an alleged argument between the two men that led to a physical confrontation and ultimate death of the victim.
Thembiso Hokozani Khuzani appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 13 September 2021, for murder and will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, 20 September 2021.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena is saddened by both incidents. He requested the community to resolve their differences peacefully rather than resorting to violence or seek professional assistance from social workers and other professionals.
