WINBURG – A head on collision was reported in N1 road, between VW Polo and Ford Ranger. Four people died at the scene and four were taken to the hospitals.

On the 15 November 2021 at about 22:50, a head on collision was reported on the N1 road. It is alleged that VW Polo with GP registration was travelling in North bound in the N1 road about 25 km from Winburg to Ventersburg while the Ford Ranger with a driver and three passenger towing a trailer.

It is further alleged that the Ford Ranger swerved into the lane of the VW Polo which caused a head on collision. The Ford Ranger caught fire the driver unfortunately burnt to death. According to the passenger the driver originate from Kwa-Thema in Springs. Three passengers sustained serious injuries. Two were taken to Winburg hospital and the third one transported to Bongani hospital.

The driver of the VW Polo and his two passengers were certified dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Services.

A case of Culpable Homicide is been investigated.
