MPUMALANGA – A 32-year-old male is expected to appear before the Nelspruit Magistrates Court today after he was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Nelspruit with the assistance of Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) through fingerprints linkage for series of housebreaking and theft cases.
It is alleged that on 06 March 2022, at about 19:00, there was a housebreaking at DPCI offices on Van Rensburg Street in Nelspruit. The LCRC visited the crime scene and lifted fingerprints for linkages.
During the investigation, the suspect was positively linked to the crime scene. It was further established that he failed to appear in court on 09 March 2022 for two housebreaking and theft cases which occurred at Nelspruit in July 2019 and November 2021 respectively.
The Hawks team went to court to obtain a warrant for his arrest and he was traced to his hiding place where he was arrested yesterday, 09 March 2022.
The suspect was also linked to seven other housebreaking and theft cases which occurred between July 2019 and December 2021. He is in custody and the investigation is continuing.
