A prison warden arrested and drugs estimated to worth one million rands confiscated

Today at around 03:30 Police conducted an intelligence driven operation at a house inside Paxton prison premises in Witbank and found drugs to the street value of 1 million rands.

 

During the operation, a house of a 37-year-old female prison warden was searched and the following drugs were found inside the house:

 

 

 

# 249 kg of crystal meth

 

 

 

# 9 half-moons of rocks

 

 

 

# 1.5 kg of heroine

 

 

 

# 3.2 grams of rocks

 

 

 

Police also confiscated an undisclosed amount cash and are currently investigating whether the drugs were sold to prisoners or elsewhere outside the prison at Emalahleni.

 

The suspect will appear tomorrow 12th November 2021 before the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court on charges of dealing in drugs.

 

The Provincial Commissioner of Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has come out in appreciation and support of the joint efforts by the members who bravely executed their job without any fear or favour.

 

“As I have said before, no one will be treated better than the others. We are all equal before the law and anyone found in contravention of the law would be arrested immediately” she said.
