A 30-year-old alleged hitman charged with murder of a businessman remanded in police custody

A 30-year-old male suspect alleged to be the hitman charged with the brutal murder of a 49-year-old businessman on 05 June 2024 has briefly appeared at Groblersdal Magistrate court on Thursday 05 September 2024. Tshepo Jan Mahlangu was remanded in police custody and his case was postponed to 12 September 2024 for bail application and further police investigations. The deceased was residing in a plot at Uitspanning under Dennilton precinct and reportedly involved in businesses when he met his untimely death while traveling along the Elandsdoorn road between Dennilton and Loskop Dam. The victim was shot while driving a silver Grey Polo Vivo motor vehicle by an unknown male suspect who fled the scene in a blue BMW sedan. A 49 year-old businessman sustained gunshot wounds and was declared dead by the members of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) upon their arrival. A murder case was opened and immediately transferred to the Limpopo Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit for further investigations. Following intens ive investigations by the police, a 30-year-old suspect realised that the police were closing on him for apprehension and subsequently handed himself to the Groblersdal police on Tuesday 03 September 2024 being accompanied by a legal representative.
