Suspects to appear in court on house robbery and related charges

Four suspects between the ages of 25 and 33 will face the court of law following their arrest for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, house robbery and attempted theft of motor vehicle.

On Monday afternoon the four males perpetrated two house robberies in the Pinelands area where they took television sets, electronic equipment and jewellery and loaded it into their vehicle. The suspects’ freedom was short lived when they were arrested by members of Pinelands police who caught them in the act. Two firearms, the suspects’ vehicle and the stolen items were recovered.

Once charged the suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.

SAPS Polokwane are investigating a case of a missing person

The police in Polokwane are investigating a case of a missing 17-year-old girl, named Phofedi Matsaung from Mmotong, Dikoting village outside Polokwane.

Phofedi was allegedly last seen on Sunday 07 August 2022 while at the Mall of the North and has since disappeared.

She was reportedly last seen wearing a trouser with a blue jacket and black shoes at the time of her disappearance.

Armed robber killed in shootout

On 7 August 2022 at 18:30 Esikhaleni police received intelligence regarding a suspect that was wanted for business robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition as well as attempted murder.

On 9 July 2022 at 20:00, five armed men entered a business premises at Kwanyanda Reserve where they demanded cash and airtime vouchers. The victim was stabbed before the suspects fled. A case of robbery and attempted murder was reported at Esikhaleni SAPS for investigation.

The suspect was traced to a house in Nsimbini area where he was hiding. On arrival at the house the suspect opened fire at police officers. The 28-year-old suspect was fatally wounded during the shooting and was declared dead on scene.

In the house police found a pistol and two magazines. A preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was working with a group of wanted suspects who are terrorising the community.

Provincial Commissioner commends Ikageng detective for securing hefty sentences against house robbers

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena commended Sergeant Octaviane Abrahams from Ikageng Detectives for his meticulous investigative work that resulted in the conviction and sentencing of Donald Madou Baloyi (30), Collen Raditekele Lentsoane (28) and Joseph Makhale Marutla (44) by the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 3 August 2022.

The trio was found guilty of robbery with aggravated circumstances, housebreaking and theft reported in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, 30 December 2014. A family, consisting of parents and their two daughters were sleeping in their house in Ikageng when they were woken up by suspects, who threatened them with firearms. The 54-year-old father, his wife and two daughters were taken to the bathroom and tied up, whilst the suspects ransacked their house. After taking four cellular phones, a laptop, jewellery and a firearm, the robbers fled the scene.

With the assistance of information gathered by Crime Intelligence, the trio were arrested three months after the incident. They were sentenced as follows:

Donald Madou Baloyi: 15 Years imprisonment

Collen Raditekele Lentsoane: 20 Years imprisonment

Joseph Makhale Marutla: 20 Years imprisonment

The Provincial Commissioner, thanked all role players involved for working tirelessly to secure the sentences.
