Help Virginia Police find missing man

VIRGINIA – Police request community assistance in locating a 22-year-old man who went missing on Wednesday, 13 July 2022 at about 17:00.

Fankasi Seturumane who is reportedly mentally challenged, has disappeared.  He was last seen while at Virginia taxi rank.

At the time of his disappearance, he was seen wearing a black jacket and a white hoody sweater, blue jean and white sneakers.  He is dark in complexion, slender build, medium height and has a brush haircut.

Virginia police are pleading to anyone who may have information on Fankasi’s whereabouts to please contact Detective Sergeant Zwai Matshaya of Virginia Detective Services on telephone number 057-910 8285 during office hours or cellphone 083 206 9287. Alternatively members of the public can also call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or submit information through the MySAPS App.

Letlhabile tavern shooting incident refuted

POTCHEFSTROOM – The South African Police Service (SAPS) management in the province would like to refute a video doing the rounds on various social media platforms and online news about an apparent shooting incident that left one person dead at a tavern in Zone 2, Letlhabile Location outside Brits.

The alleged incident, which lacks specifics such as date and time, was not reported to the police. At this stage, the information is dismissed as fake and misleading. The public is once more, requested to practice responsible use of social media platforms and desist from sharing unverified information with the potential to cause unnecessary panic amongst our communities.

House robbery suspects sought

WELKOM – Two suspects between the ages of 30 and 35 are wanted for house robbery perpetrated in Bedelia on 31 May 2022 at about 11:35.

It is alleged that 31-year-old woman was at her residential place when two unknown males entered through the kitchen door saying they were sent by the father of the house.  The victim told the suspects that she does not stay with a male and was forced at gun point into her bedroom.

Upon realizing that the suspects had left, it was discovered that an LG smart television, black and silver in colour and two remote controls were missing.

Police were called to the scene and a case of house robbery was registered.

Identikits of the suspects were compiled. The first suspect is dark in complexion, muscular build, about 1,6 height. He was wearing a black cotton jacket, blue shirt, white skinny jeans and colourful formal shoes.

The second suspect is also dark in complexion, slender build, 1,7 metres in height. He was wearing black jean jacket, black shirt, black skinny jean and navy blue formal shoes.

Search underway for missing Me. Tlaleng Suzan Makunga

ALLANRIDGE – Police request the public to assist in locating Suzan Makunga, aged 61, who is missing since 10 April 2022.

According to information, she reportedly left Thabong to visit her boyfriend known as Themba in Allanridge where she arrived safely however, she has since not returned to her place of residence in Thabong.

Anyone with information that can help trace the elderly woman, is requested to contact Detective Sergeant Steve Mokati of Allanridge Detective Services on cellphone number 078 800 0676 or alternatively Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or MySAPS App.

Provincial Commissioner hands over school uniform to learners

NELSPRUIT – The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela today handed over school uniform to learners of Pilgrim’s Rest Primary School in Pilgrim’s Rest.

The event forms part of Mandela Day Celebration where each person is propelled to spend 67 minutes and show kindness by adding value to someone who is less fortunate hence the Provincial Commissioner took this initiative to heart.

The occasion, which was led by the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela together with police management in the province were hosted at Pilgrim’s Rest Sports Grounds. Other dignitaries in attendance include the local Councillor, officials from the department of Basic Education, and the local Traffic Department as well as the general public.

During the handing over of the items, the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela indicated that police are part of the community and have a role to play in the society, not only during the Nelson Mandela Month Celebration but even beyond. “The police did not hand over the uniform to learners because they are better or they want to make a show off but it is because of the experience that some of them went through in their personal lives with regard to poverty. This has prompted police to take action to make a difference in order to prevent a situation whereby children are lured to commit crime just because of poverty and lack” said the General.

Man in custody for theft of millions worth of jewellery

GAUTENG – The accused, Mduduzi Nxumalo (39) appeared at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 26 July 2022 and the matter was remanded to 01 August 2022 for bail application.

It is alleged that on the night of 09 August 2019, a vehicle with armed men entered the business premises on Ballyclare Drive in Sandton where they tied the security guards with cables and broke into a jewellery warehouse. They stole jewellery worth more than R26 million and fled the scene in their getaway vehicle. A case of business robbery was reported at the Sandton police station. The matter was referred to the Germiston based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation for further handling. The Hawks’ thorough investigation led the team to Soweto Township where Nxumalo was arrested on 25 July 2022.

He was charged with business robbery and he appeared in court where he was remanded in custody. The investigation is continuing and the arrest of other suspects cannot be ruled out.

Woman to appear in court for concealing birth

DURBAN – On 26 July 2022 at 14:00, Inanda police were called out to Amaoti where the community reportedly apprehended a 25-year-old woman who was suspected of killing her baby. On arrival at the scene, police established that the community had forced the woman to dig up the shallow grave where the remains of her baby were buried.

The woman was arrested and detained at Inanda SAPS where she was charged with birth concealment, whilst the body of the baby was transported to a local mortuary. She will appear before Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 28 July 2022.

It is alleged that the woman was pregnant and when she was found without a baby, the neighbours became suspicious and interrogated her. She later told neighbours that the child had died.
