16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children and Safer Festive Season awareness campaigns conducted in Mopani District

GIYANI – The South African Police Service in Giyani under the Mopani District conducted 16 Days of Activism and Safer Festive Season awareness campaigns through door-to-door visits at Mavalani village outside Giyani on Monday, 06 December 2021.

 

The activities were led by the Social Crime Prevention Coordinator, Sergeant Maluleke who was accompanied by Sergeant Mashava, Constable Ngomane, Victim Empowerment Center (VEP) and Young Civilians on Patrol (Ycop) members.

 

More than 670 pamphlets were distributed and members of the community were also sensitized about the following significant matters through a loudhailer:

 

  • Child abuse

 

  • Gender-based violence (GBV)

 

  • Reporting of any suspicious criminal activities

 

  • Hitchhiking

 

  • Illegal mining

 

  • Rape

 

  • Child abuse and child neglect.

 

  • Safety measures to apply when sharing stokvel money and groceries

 

  • Public drinking and

 

  • Stock theft.

 

Contact details of the Community Service Centre (CSC), Station Commander and District Management were shared with the community.
