16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children advocated by various stakeholders at Lulekani

The Station Commander of SAPS Lulekani Lieutenant Colonel Alina Shingange led the awareness campaign against gender based violence and femicide held yesterday, on Wednesday 08 December 2021.

 

The activities commenced with a 5km fun walk and then concluded with a formal programme at the Lulekani Spar Supermarket.

 

The Acting Vispol Commander Warrant Officer Shingange, Support Head Captain Makhubele, Social Crime Prevention Coordinator Sergeant Nomvela, Communication Officer Sergeant Ntsako Reoh Mabunda, Sergeant Luphondo-Mkansi from FCS Unit, Sergeant M Pilusa from Phalaborwa SAPS and Crime Prevention members also attended the event, joined by different stake holders.

 

The initiative aimed at sensitizing community members about crimes such as domestic violence, gender based violence, different forms of abuse, children’s rights and other crimes affecting women and children.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Shingange in his address, encouraged the partakers and the community to report any form of violence against women and children as well as other crimes that are happening within the society.

 

She urged members to ensure that the level of professionalism and integrity is not comprised when rendering services most especially, when attending cases of abuse against women and children.

 

The fight against crime through community outreach programmes strengthened at Lulekani.
