Quality investigation by the detectives in Tsakane SAPS led to 15 years imprisonment for hijacking accused.
The sentence was handed down on Friday, 08 October 2021 in Tsakane Regional Court.
Detective Warrant Officer Bobe Nene was assigned to investigate the hijacking incident that took place on 2020-02-26 whereby two suspects hijacked the employees of a courier company while making deliveries at Nzima Street, Tsakane.
The victims notified the police who were patrolling in the area and the members immediately chased the hijacked truck until they managed to corner it. One suspect was arrested while the other one fled the scene.
Percy Mahlongo Ngcobo (44), was charged with hijacking and possession of a hijacked truck. He was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
The hard work and commitment from Warrant Officer Nene in making sure that the suspect is convicted and the swift response by Sergeant Kabelo Eric Tshetlanyane and Constable Sheron Kubayi on the day of the incident is commendable. The professional conduct and dedication by members of the South African Police Service will lead to more successful convictions.
