LIMPOPO - The South African Police Service in Limpopo arrested 1251 suspects aged between 18 and 48 for cases ranging from murder, attempted murder, robberies, rape, burglaries, stock theft, theft of motor vehicle and fraud during the operations that were conducted by various SAPS units from 28 March 2022 until yesterday 04 April 2022.
Four suspects aged between 30 and 48 were arrested for stock theft during an intelligence led tactical operation conducted on 03 April 2022 at Mokopane in Tshamahanzi village. Police recovered two slaughtered cattle and one calf still alive.
Members of Limpopo Highway Patrol arrested one suspect for possession of drugs at an estimated value of R1.5 million at Nyl Plaza. Police spotted a suspicious Charcoal VW TSI vehicle, and approached it. Upon searching the vehicle, they recovered packs of kat and mandrax hidden inside the vehicle.
A 45-year-old suspect was arrested for assault on Police and malicious damage to state vehicle, on 01 April 2022 in Polokwane Bok Street.
Two suspects aged 34 and 41 who were driving two trucks loaded with precious minerals were arrested on 01 April 2022 along R37 road at Ga-Mathipa village, by Members of Limpopo Highway Patrol for possession of chrome with an estimated value of R80 000-00 per truck. Both drivers failed to produce legal documents for being in possession of the minerals.
Six suspects aged between 18 and 29 were arrested for attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm at Ladanna. Allegedly, Members of Westenburg Saps, Limpopo Highway Patrol and Flying Squad were on operational duties on 01 April 2022, when they received information about a shooting incident at the said place. On arrival, two victims were shot at including a security guard. Information was followed until six suspects driving in a white Toyota Camry were arrested. Police recovered two firearms during the arrest.
Three suspects were nabbed by Members of the Limpopo Highway Patrol for housebreaking and theft on 03 April 2022 at Polokwane Medi Clinic's Daycare unit. Stolen items were recovered.
Police recovered various items during these operations, 11 firearms, 60 knives, 5 stolen vehicles, large quantities of dagga, 44 dagga plants, sticks of counterfeit cigarettes, liquor, Khat, Crystal Meth and Nyaope drugs.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo has praised the Police Officers for continuously arresting criminals to ensure the safety all communities across the province.
Some of the arrested suspects have started appearing before various magistrate's courts across the province.
The operations are continuing.
