Multi-disciplinary operation dubbed Operation Basadi was conducted in the OR Tambo District with female officers from the SAPS, traffic, Correctional Services and Department of Home Affairs on Monday 09 August 2021 from 10:00.
Roadblocks were held on the R61 focussing on COVID-19 regulations compliance and the illegal possession of firearms and drugs.
A joint operation was also held at Port St John’s by all law enforcement agencies from the OR Tambo District focusing on stop and searches, targeting on enforcing Road Traffic Act, drugs transportation, raising awareness on COVID-19.
The other issue Mbokodos were focusing on were drunken driving.
The enforcers manage to raise awareness about road safety and remind them about curfew times.

*Arrests – 13(a) 1 traffic offence – R1 500,00
*Fisheries: 1 arrest paid R500,00
*Immigration officers: 11 arrests
*Knives confiscated: 07
*Warrants executed: 18 – monetary value total = R52400,00
On the same day, SAPS Madeira also held a GBV event at Sibabalwe disabled centre in Northcrest which was led by Madeira Vispol Commander. Various stakeholders participated and a learner shared a poem and powerful words to everybody who attended the event.
The Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Ntandane and traffic management applauded the members for their work and dedication to what they did to uplift the standard of women during the Women’s Month.
Suspects are due to appear in their respective courts on Tuesday, 10 August 2021.
