UPDATE – Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul up at Monday’s close

Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,392.64 points on Monday, up 1.16% from the previous close.

Starting the week at 1,375.97 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index climbed 15.97 points from the previous close of 1,376.67 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,375.72 points, while its daily high was 1,392.64 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.04 trillion Turkish liras ($120.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 12 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

On the first transaction day of the week, 81 stocks on the index rose, 15 fell, and four were flat compared to the last week’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and gold miner Koza.

Energy company Esenboga was the best performer, with its shares up 9.97%, while stocks of conglomerate Bera Holding saw the sharpest drop, down 2.47%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,791.55 by market close, up from $1,784.10 at last week’s close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $76.90 per barrel as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT).
