WESTERN CAPE – On Thursday 27 May 2021 at about 14:00, members attached to Boland K9 Unit received information that three suspects whom were involved in a business robbery in Alice, Eastern Cape were en-route to Cape Town in a bus. The members spotted the blue and white ilulaBus and directed it towards the weighbridge.
The three suspects were found on the bus and upon searching their luggage a 9 mm Star pistol with serial number intact and 25 rounds of ammunition was found in one bag including stolen cigarettes and toiletries. In another bag a 9 mm Retay pistol with serial number intact, cigarettes, toiletries and R800 cash including a pot full of coins was found. The other accused had cigarettes, toiletries, an undisclosed amount of air time vouchers in his possession, as well as R710 cash and a holder full of coins.
The three suspects aged 23, 24 and 25 were arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of suspected stolen property and detained at SAPS Rawsonville. The seized exhibits was handed in at Rawsonville SAPS. They are due to appear in court once charged.
