The Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner patrolling the streets of Stutterheim on foot

The Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga visited the Amathole District Station Commanders and members at Stutterheim today.

She addressed the Commanders in a parade and appreciated the work that has been done in the fight against crime. She encouraged them to keep the strong relationship with the community in the efforts of fighting crime. “You must engaged yourselves with CPF, community members, farmers and business owners and work hand in hand in ensuring the safety and security of the community,” she emphasized

After the parade, she met with Amathole District Station Commanders and District Management and thanked them for the support throughout the years in the Eastern Cape Province. She said “As I am visiting you I have mixed feelings that we worked together with passion but I have to leave you, one thing for sure I will miss the blue uniform,” she added. She encouraged the Station Commanders to keep on serving the community with dignity and pride and hold the EC flag high and do more in the reduction of crime. The Stutterheim Station Commanders Lt Col Ndiki gave the Provincial Commissioner a token of appreciation from Amathole District and thanked her for her guidance and promised to keep them as to move forward in the SAPS ranks.

The second phase, the General conducted operation with members in the CBD, doing stop and search and foot patrols. She engaged with the community at the taxi rank and during her tour of duty she checked non-compliance in the taverns and two bottle stores were closed. Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga and the District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu also visited business shops and engaged them on robberies that are occurring in their shops and encouraged them to install CCTV camera in assisting Police in tracing the suspects. During the operation eleven (11) protection orders were served and a 31-year-old male was arrested in the CBD for operating scrap metal without being registered.

Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga appreciated the efforts by the District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu in ensuring that the District is stable and are working hard in reducing the crime. She encouraged them to do more in the fight against Gender-based violence and Femicide and they must ensure that perpetrators are behind bars.
