MTHATHA: In an effort to remove illegal firearms from the wrong hands, SAPS members conducted suspect raiding operations on Monday19 July 2021 in Norwood area in Mthatha.
During the operation, a suspects aged 27 was arrested at Norwood in Mthatha after he was found with two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The arrested suspect was detained at Mthatha Central for further investigation. He is expected to appear in Mthatha Magistrates’ Court on charges relating to possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The confiscated firearms will be sent to forensics for ballistic testing.
Investigation continues to look at the possibility of the suspect being involved in other criminal activities.
