KWAZULU-NATAL – A multi-disciplinary operation was carried out today at 07:35, where the police officers were following up information regarding the firearms that were stolen at Dayeni area in Nongoma.
The complainant alleged that on 22 May 2021 at 06:15, he noticed that his house was broken into by unknown suspects. The safe which contained firearms was stolen. A case of burglary was opened for investigation at Nongoma SAPS.
The team went to Dulini area under Mahlabathini policing precinct following up information regarding the stolen firearms. During the operation, the suspect was found busy digging a safe with firearms that was hidden in the bushes. A 21-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. He was found in possession of a revolver and rifle. A total of 177 rounds of ammunition were found from the suspect.
The team proceeded to another homestead in Dayeni where five suspects aged between 32 and 42 were placed under arrest for burglary and theft. All the suspects will appear before the Nongoma and Mahlabathini Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
