DURBAN – Police officers from the Provincial Trio Task Team conducted an operation in Wentworth and surrounding areas on 19 June 2021.
During the operations, police officers received information about a suspect who was driving a hijacked vehicle. The said vehicle was spotted on Raj Mahal Road in Merebank and was intercepted. A search was conducted and it was established that vehicle was hijacked in Cato Manor this month.
It is alleged that on 4 June 2021 at 21:20, a motorist was stationary in his vehicle on Daluxolo Road in Wiggins when five unknown men approached him. At gunpoint, they robbed him of his vehicle and drove off. A case of carjacking was opened for investigation at Cato Manor SAPS.
A 42-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for possession of stolen property. The suspect is making his first court appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court today.
