ELLIOTDALE: In an effort to fight crime in our policing precinct Elliotdale police ensure that firearms are off the streets and that they are preventing any criminal activities that were planned. They arrested a 35-year-old male for possession of unlicensed firearm during the operation that was conducted last night.
The members received information about a suspect who is staying at kwaRasi Location, Cwebe Administrative Area who is in possession of a firearm without licence. They followed the information and on arrival at the place they introduced themselves as police officials and asked permission to search the house which was granted by the owner. During the search they found a 9mm pistol with a magazine.
They then arrested him for possession of an unlicensed firearm after he failed to produce the licence. He will appear before Elliotdale Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
The Acting Amathole District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu appreciated the job done by the members in ensuring that when information is shared they swiftly follow it up. “We will ensure that our citizens are safe and secure and firearms are recovered and confiscated by Police”, he added
