EASTERN CAPE – Balfour SAPS is continuously fighting crimes against women and ensure that perpetrators are behind bars. When crimes on Gender Based Violence and Femicide occur Police ensure that the person responsible faces the full might of the law.
A 26-year-old male was arrested last night at Mankazana Farm in Balfour following a case of murder that was reported. It is alleged that the suspect who is the boyfriend to the deceased had an argument with the deceased and assaulted her with an axe. She died on the scene. Upon Police arrival, they found the body of the woman and the suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.
He is due to appear at Seymour Magistrate Court on Tuesday 03 August 2021.
The Acting Amathole District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu said the crimes on Gender Based Violence and Femicide are treated very serious by Police and we will ensure that justice prevails. He encouraged women to speak out of any violence and apply for protection order.
