Suspect arrested by lockdown II members for the possession of a firearm, another one for bribery

In pursuit of a safer environment for the Khayelitsha community, members of Lockdown II conducted a stop and search operation in the area last night when they came across a prohibited firearm and ammunition in a Toyota Avanza. The 28-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested and the prohibited firearm and ammunition were confiscated.

The owner of the Avanza was informed that his driver was arrested and he came to the scene of arrest. He made an attempt to bribe the Lockdown II members for the release of his driver, but found himself in our custody too. The R14 660-00 he wanted to us a bribe was confiscated.

The two suspects both aged 28 are scheduled to make their court appearances in Khayelitsha on Monday, the one for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, and the other one for bribery.
