PHALABORWA- The SAPS Phalaborwa Women’s Network led by the Station Commander Colonel Rakhadani and Men for Change led by Captain Maraba joined by the communication officer Sergeant Mongwe conducted a crime awareness campaign today in the Phalaborwa CBD.
The campaign was in the form of loud hailing and one on one interaction with community members. Business premises were monitored to ensure compliance with business regulations and Covid-19 regulations.
Pamphlets containing crime prevention safety hints were distributed and community members were sensitized about the following problematic crimes:
*Domestic violence
*Burglaries
*Theft by false pretences
*Shoplifting
*Theft out of motor vehicle
*Fraud
*Card skimming
*Gender based violence
Community members were further encouraged to report crimes perpetrated against women and children as well as any form of criminal activities around their areas. A total of 510 people were reached and they were warned about the consequences of buying stolen properties.
Awareness was concluded with an appeal to the community to adhere to Covid-19 regulations. The fight against crime through community outreach programs continues around Phalaborwa.
