SAPS Westenburg celebrates Mandela day

The South African Police Service in Westenburg outside Polokwane in collaboration with various stakeholders have on Friday 16 July 2021, celebrated Mandela Day.

The Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Pilusa accompanied by Social Crime Prevention Coordinator, Sergeant Shipalane, Rural Safety Coordinator Warrant Officer Tlolane, Sector Commander, Sergeant Makgotla, VEP Coordinators, Community Policing Forum, Local Pastors, the Social Workers, the Disability Beyond Ability Foundation, visited one of the identified needy and underprivileged families in Extension 71.

The police became aware of the falmily’s hardships after one of the members came to the Community Service Center for assistance following a family dispute.The complaint was attended by Constable Sinthumule and Constable Shisana who, upon arrival at the house, they discovered a woman who has been bedridden for over six years and was desperately in need of a wheelchair.

The family’s prayers were finally answered through the Disability Beyond Ability Foundation who donated a wheelchair. The team also donated other necessities and painted the house.

The Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Pilusa, appreciated the joint and selflessness efforts by everyone who participated in the programme and encouraged those who can to continue reaching out to the needy as part of their social responsibility to the society.

He further advised the family to contact the station or other local professionals whenever they encounter challenges.
