This warning comes after a house robbery was reported in Walmer Heights this morning, 10 August 2021. It is alleged that the complainant was asleep and at approximately 06:30 he woke up after hearing a noise in the lounge. As he went to investigate, he was confronted by an unknown male suspect. The complainant scuffled with the suspect and in the ensuing altercation, he was thrown against the wall injuring himself in the face. The suspect escaped through a sliding door and fled with a HP Laptop with docking station, Samsung A6 cell phone and a JABRA speaker.
Police are investigating a case of house robbery.
Police are advising homeowners to always be security conscious irrespective whether one is living in a gated complex or not. It has been noted that residents in gated complexes are more relaxed and tend to let their guard down by leaving doors, windows and garage doors unlocked. When entering or exiting a complex it is important to ensure that one waits until the electronic gate is completely closed before driving off. Criminals use this to quickly gain access into the property.
