Police trace attempted rape suspect in Galeshewe

The SAPS Provincial Tracking Team did what they do best and that is tracing suspects. A 29-year-old male suspect was traced and arrested in Galeshewe on 3 August 2021 at approximately 16:30 after he allegedly attempted to rape a 17-year-old female.

It is alleged that on 1 August 2021 at about 23:00 the suspect, who is an employee at a tavern, grabbed the female and forced her into a room where he assaulted her and attempted to rape her.

She fought back and the suspect locked her up in the room and fled the scene. The victim screamed for help and a community member came to her rescue and reported the matter to the police.

“The Head for Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit, Brig Nicky Mills commended Sergeants Feroza Adams, Bradley Lemmetjies, Devon Mouries and Zwele Nobathana from the Provincial Tracking Team for their swift response and quick arrest of the suspect. Especially as we are celebrating Women’s Month and vow to leave no stone unturned to ensure that women are and feel safe.
