Police recover firearm in a restroom

ROADSIDE – The Rapid Rail Police Unit are forming part of the police members manning N3 road between Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal as part of crime prevention duties in terms of roadblock and static at specific areas of which Roadside is one of them situated near N3 south bound to Durban.

On 09 September 2021 a police official went to the bathroom at the Roadside garage. Apparently when getting inside the toilet booth was surprised to find a firearm that was left unattended in the restroom. It’s a 9mm pistol with live rounds.

The firearm was circulated with the assistance of other colleagues and the lawful owner was located in Boksburg, Gauteng Province. He definitely confirmed forgetting his firearm in the bathroom in Roadside while traveling from KwaZulu-Natal to Gauteng.

A case of Negligence Loss of a firearm was opened at a nearby police station for further investigation. It is dangerous to leave firearm anywhere through negligence, as it might land in the wrong hands.
