Police launch manhunt following the killing of an elderly woman and child

MQANDULI – The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Zithulele Dladla has expressed shock at the brutal murder of an elderly woman aged 84 and a 9-year-old girl on Monday night 19 July 2021 at KwaPhahla locality, Mqanduli.

According to information, police received a report of an alleged murder and immediately went to attend the scene. On arrival, police found bodies of an elderly woman and a young girl with bullet wounds on their upper bodies.

The suspects are unknown and are still at large. The motive behind this incident is not known at this stage, however a case of murder has been opened for investigation.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Zithulele Dladla said, “The brutal killing of women and children is unacceptable and remains one of the priorities of the South African Police Service. We want to assure the community that the police will not rest until those involved in this callous act are found”.
