Police investigate attempted business robbery

GQEBERHA – It is alleged that at about 06:20 this morning, 03 September 2021 three (3) armed suspects entered the post office in Caledon Street in Kariega and held the staff at gunpoint.

A staff member working at the postal delivery section was overpowered by the suspects as she was busy opening the gates to the postal delivery side. They demanded the keys to the main operational section of the post office. When another staff member arrived a short while later, they also demanded the same from him. After realising that neither of them possessed the keys, they took a cell phone belonging to a staff member and then fled the scene. Nothing else was taken and no one sustained any injuries.

The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation (OCI) in Gqeberha are investigating a case of attempted business robbery.
