Police in Limpopo foster partnership policing through the air-waves

POLOKWANE – The South African Police Service in Limpopo continue with initiatives to strengthen relationship with the communities they serve through the air-waves.

Given the fact that the community is at the centre of all policing activities, the Provincial Corporate Communication and Liaison members found it necessary to strengthen partnership policing as one of the core pillars in crime prevention.

The initiative was carried out during a live radio interview with Sekhukhune community radio station based in the Jane Furse policing area under the Sekhukhune District, conducted by Constable Maphure Manamela attached to the Provincial Media Centre.

Amongst the engagements, the Provincial representative enlightened the community about crime hints such as the prevention of robberies, ATM scams, participating in violent protests and how to establish Crime Prevention Community Structures such as Neighbourhood watch, Community Policing forums, Street patrols and the Y-COP, as well as how to maintain such structures.

The community was also made aware of support structures at their disposal, how to report crime anonymously by using My SAPS App and Crime Stop.

The interview was concluded with the assurance that the police doors are always open for everyone who needs help and as such, the contact details of the station management were provided.
