Provincial Ministers lead the way in registering 35+
Today, the Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works, Daylin Mitchell, and the Provincial Minister of Human Settlements, Tertius Simmers, registered on the Electronic Vaccination Data System or EVDS to receive their appointment dates and times for their vaccines.
This follows the opening of the EVDS to those in the 35 – 49 age group. It should be noted that while the EVDS is open to this younger age group, those who are over 50 and 60 years may continue to register on the EVDS and are encouraged to do so.
Minister Mitchell, who is the youngest member of the Provincial Cabinet, said: I registered for the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as the registration opened. I fall into the category of people who can register to be vaccinated starting from today. It literally took me a few minutes to register online. I urge all the young people who have not yet registered to do so. The sooner we register, the earlier we get a chance to get a jab. It is important for all of us to play our part in flattening the curve and stay safe.”
I want to encourage all those who are eligible to register, to do so. Registration is simple and can be done by:
• visiting https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za/#/ or www.westerncape.gov.za;
• dialing *134*832# and follow the prompts (FREE on all South African Networks); or
• WhatsApp the word REGISTER to 0600 123456.
