JOE GQABI DISTRICT – Maclear- SAPS endevours to keep our community safe and secure were strengthened during a multi-disciplinary operation that was held on 03 August 2021.
Participants included JGDM – Cllr Hlathuka, SAPS, Elundini Law enforcement, Immigration officers & JGDM (MHS, Fire and Disaster)
The following activities were embarked on and successes achieved-
1) 27 business premises were visited in the CBD area and 2 business premises in Mdeni village.
2)17 food premises were found compliant with Covid-19 protocols and other requirements.
3)5 Food premises were issued with rectification orders to immediately rectify deviations that were identified.
4)3 business premises were issued with rectification instructions to put in place all necessary Covid-19 precautions.
5) A significant health risk was identified in 5 food premises, these were then issued with prohibition notices.
6) 2 food premises were closed.
Unwholesome foodstuffs were condemned, 4 condemnation certificates were issued.
Condemned food were disposed of in a landfill site.
During this period loud hailing was done as an awareness on the Disaster Management Act Regulations at Mdeni Village and Maclear CBD.
On the Mount Fletcher side of the Joe Gqabi District the same operations were conducted with different role-players.
The role-players at Mount Fletcher include Elundini Madam Mayor, Elundini and JGDM communications SAPS, Elundini Law enforcement, Immigration officers & JGDM (MHS, Fire and Disaster).
The activities in this area also included the following –
1) 21 business premises were visited in the CBD area.
2)11 Food premises were issued with rectification orders to immediately rectify deviations that were identified.
3) 8 business premises were issued with rectification instructions to put in place all necessary Covid-19 precautions.
4) A significant health risk was identified in 5 food premises, these were then issued with prohibition notices.
5)6 fines were issued for a non-compliant business.
Unwholesome foodstuffs were condemned, 5 condemnation certificates were issued.
Condemned foodstuffs were disposed of in a landfill site.
The Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Rudolph Adolph commended the members and different role-players on the multidisciplinary approach that makes a significant difference in our communities.
