The Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation, Ms Lindiwe Sisulu, will on Monday 7th June 2021 officially hand over the functions of operations and maintenance for water and sanitation services to Rand Water,

This hand over is as per the invoking of Section 63 of the Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997 as amended), as confirmed at the last meeting of Cabinet. Rand Water will therefore be the Implementing Agent for the Department of Water and Sanitation for the duration of the intervention to remedy the pollution situation at the Vaal River.

The day’s activities will include Minister Sisulu engaging with relevant stakeholders from the region, including Emfuleni Local Municipality.
