The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service Eastern Cape, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga invites media reporters to a handing over of certificates ceremony to members of Operational Response Services (ORS) Unit currently on operational deployment at Bityi, outside Mthatha. This deployment was a response to numerous cries by local stock owners who were complaining about rampant crime and stock theft throughout the area. SAPS management will also brief the media on the progress made in the reduction of crime and successes at Bityi.
It has been four months since the team has been deployed at Bityi and surrounding villages and successes are numerous in crime, recovery of stolen stock as well as illegal firearms and ammunition.
Commendation certificates will be handed over to all the members of this deployment as a token of appreciation and motivation to a job well executed.
