GQEBERHA – An alleged house robbery suspect could not escape his situation when a homeowner and his neighbour confronted him while he was still in the house.
It is alleged that on Tuesday, 10 August 2021 at about 20:35, the complainant was busy watching TV with three minors at his house in Mbane Street, Zwide. After hearing a knock on the door, he opened it and spoke to two unknown men who were looking for a certain person. After informing them that such person is unknown, they then asked for water. The complainant told them to enter at the back and as he opened the back door, one of the men drew a firearm and pointed it at him. The second suspect also produced a firearm. A plasma TV was taken and the two suspects left in a white Toyota Quantum.
The complainant immediately ran for help to his neighbour and as they came back to the house, they noticed that there was still another suspect inside the house. Both males overpowered the suspect and alerted police.
The suspect (25) is detained on a charge of house robbery and is due to appear in the New Brighton magistrate’s court on Friday, 13 August 2021. Police investigations are continuing and further arrests are imminent.
