NELSPRUIT – Four men aged between 27 and 35 are due to appear before the Mdutjana Magistrate’s Court in Siyabuswa tomorrow, 17 August 2021, on allegations of murder.
The men were arrested on Saturday, 14 August 2021 by members of the Provincial Investigation Unit. It is reported that on 17 July 2021, a 33-year-old man was reported missing by his mother at Dennilton Police Station after he reportedly left home in his VW Polo and never returned.
Days later, on 26 July 2021 the lifeless body of an unknown male was found in the bushes at Oorlog around Siyabuswa. Police were alerted and murder case was opened. The deceased was later identified as Cecil Malefahla, the man who was reported missing.
A preliminary investigation was then launched by the Provincial Team which led to them receiving information about the whereabouts of one of the suspects. They acted on the information and conducted an operation which eventually led to the arrest of the four suspects on Saturday, 14 August 2021 around Dennilton.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has applauded the team’s efforts in ensuring that the suspects are traced and arrested.
