Firearms confiscated and two suspects arrested in Grassy Park

WESTERN CAPE – On Monday, 14 June 2021 at approximately 15:00, SAPS Grassy Park members received information of firearms at a premises in Peppershrike, New Horizon, a known illegal liquor outlet in the area. 

Upon arrival at the property, the 66-year-old owner opened the door and granted access to the SAPS members to conduct a search of the premises.  In the toilet they found a cupboard and noticed a hole in which a green plastic bag was hidden. Upon opening the bag three firearms were found. 

The two males found on the property aged 66 were arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Two 9mm pistols and one 7.65 pistol and 17 rounds of ammunition were confiscated. Both suspects will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate court once charged. 

Western Cape Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thembisile Patekile commended the members for their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice and he thanked the community members who reported the criminals.
