Djokovic beats Garin to qualify for Wimbledon quarterfinals

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic defeated Christian Garin to advance to the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Monday.

World number one Djokovic eliminated Garin from Chile 6-2, 6-4, and 6-2 at London’s Center Court.

Hungarian player Marton Fucsovics reached his first Grand Slam quarterfinals after defeating Andrey Rublev of Russia (6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3) in five sets.

He also became the first Hungarian to make the last eight at the tournament since Jozsef Asboth in 1948.

Denis Shapovalov beat Roberto Bautista 3-0, while Karen Khachanov defeated Sebastian Korda 3-2 to move to the last eight of the championships.

In the women’s singles, world number one Ashleigh Barty qualified for the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time with a 7-5 and 6-3 win against Barbora Krejcikova.

Also, Karolina Pliskova defeated Ludmilla Samsonova 6-2 and 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals.
