Deputy Minister Buti Manamela to vaccinate at TUT as part of vaccination roll out drive for the post-school Education and Training (PSET) Sector

Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Mr Buti Manamela (MP) to get vaccinated at Tshwane University of Technology on 12 August 2021.

The Department of Higher Education and Training together with HIGHER HEALTH developed a comprehensive vaccination strategy for the post school education and training (PSET) sector, in alignment with the Department of Health’s (DoH) national vaccination rollout plan.

Minister Blade Nzimande launched the vaccination roll out for the PSET sector on 23 July 2021.

Since then the higher education vaccination roll out has commenced with employees older than 35 years. These employees, including postgraduate lecturing students form approximately 70% of the workforce who are full time, part time and contract staff who interact daily with students and staff, clean residences and provide security services.

HIGHER HEALH is working with DoH towards in further preparing the roll out plan for staff younger than 35. Thereafter, students living in campus residences and private accommodation will be prioritised. As part of our national PSET roll out plan all students will be eligible for vaccination as per the Department of Health national age-centred approach.

In keeping with vaccination roll out drive for the PSET, Deputy Minister will be conducting a monitoring and support visit to the TUT vaccination site.
