DURBAN – The operations to root-out copper thieves are still on-going in the province. This is followed by an operation that was conducted yesterday afternoon by the police officers deployed at Prasa/Transnet Stabilisation Project.
The team was patrolling along Park Rynie Railway line when they noticed a male busy digging and pulling copper cable near the bushes. The suspect was then approached and was placed under arrest. A 37-year-old suspect was found in possession of spade and stolen copper cables.
The suspect was charged for tempering and destroying the essential infrastructure at Scottburgh. The suspect is appearing before the Scottburgh Magistrates’ Court today.
