City advises of low water pressure or possible supply disruption in the Durbanville, Fisantekraal, Philadelphia, Klipheuwel, Contermanskloof, Wellington and Hermon areas

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be working on the new high-lift pump station at the Voëlvlei Water Treatment Plant from 05:00 on Thursday, 24 June until 09:00 on Saturday, 26 June 2021. This work forms part of the infrastructure upgrade programme and will require that the plant be shut down during this period, to enable the work to be done safely.  Read more below:

The City has planned to reduce the impact of the critical maintenance work on consumers as far as possible. This includes filling the reservoirs supplied by the Voëlvlei Water Treatment Plant to maximum capacity in advance. Consumers in Durbanville, Fisantekraal, Philadelphia, Klipheuwel, and Contermanskloof, may however still experience slightly lower-than-usual pressure on the day.

Residents in these areas are requested to reduce their water consumption for the duration of the shutdown, as this will help ensure outages and pressure drops are minimised.

The Drakenstein municipality has been informed that works will also affect Wellington and Hermon because they are supplied from the Voëlvlei bulk water pipeline.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water treatment infrastructure to enable the sustainable and reliable supply of good quality drinking water.
