Brothers due in court for diesel theft

DURBAN – On Saturday night at 22:00, the police officers from Rapid Rail Police Unit were conducting patrols at Bayhead when they noticed a vehicle travelling at a high speed along the railway line.

The said vehicle was approached and it was stopped. Inside the vehicle there were two male occupants and a search was conducted. Upon searching the vehicle, the police found five containers of 25 litres containing diesel. A 2.5 meter plastic pipe was also recovered from the males.

Both occupants were questioned about where they got diesel and also to produce slips but they failed. Both suspects aged 30 and 35 were placed under arrest for possession of stolen property. They were also charged for contravening the Immigration Act as they were in the country illegally. They are appearing before the Durban Magistrates’ Court today.
